Missionaries of the Blessed Sacrament

The National Eucharistic Revival

This continues a series of ideas to use in your parish and area to promote belief in the Holy Eucharist and Adoration.

Week 61: “I Myself Am the Living Bread come down from heaven.” (Jn 6:51) “Let us beseech the Lord to reawaken in us the joy at his presence and that we may once more adore him.” (Pope Benedict XVI) Send out seasonal invitations. Invite others to watch one hour with Jesus weekly throughout the year.

Week 62: “Come to Me all of you who are weary and find life burdensome and I will refresh you.” (Mt 11:28) “[Eucharistic] Adoration . . . is always more than just talking with God in a general way . . . . The Eucharist means, God has answered: The Eucharist is God as an answer, as an answering presence.” (Pope Benedict XVI) Prepare a table of materials for your parish fair, bazaar or other activities. Play a video about adoration at your table to draw attention and decorate it with posters.

Week 63: “Cast all your anxieties on Him for He cares about you.” (1 Pt 5:7) “Communion and contemplation belong together: a person cannot communicate with another person without knowing him.” (Pope Benedict XVI) Invite those who are unable to take a regular hour (and those who already do) to be on a substitute list.

Week 64: “The Lamb on the Throne will shepherd them. He will lead them to springs of life-giving water.” (Rev 7:17) “The adoration of the Lord in the sacrament is also an education in sensitizing our conscience .… When the conscience becomes dulled, this lets in the violence that lays waste the world.” (Pope Benedict XVI) Use social media to promote the Real Presence of Jesus in the Holy Eucharist and Adoration. Request to be placed on our forwarding list to receive daily Eucharistic quotes and share them with others.

Week 65: “I have come that they may have life, and have it more abundantly.” (Jn 10:10) “The happiness you are seeking, the happiness you have a right to enjoy has a name and a face: Jesus of Nazareth, hidden in the Eucharist.” (Pope Benedict XVI) Encourage those in RCIA to come to Adoration and experience the power of Jesus’ Presence.

Week 66: “I am the Vine, you are the branches. He who lives in Me and I in him, will produce abundantly, for apart from me you can do nothing.” Jn 15:5) “The encounter with Jesus Christ will allow you to experience in your hearts the joy of his living and life-giving presence, and enable you to bear witness to it before others.” (Pope Benedict XVI) Pray to be open and receptive to God’s love at Eucharistic Adoration so that you may share His love with others.

Week 67: “They who humble themselves shall be exalted.” (Lk 18:14) “Love or friendship always carries within it an impulse of reverence, of adoration.” (Pope Benedict XVI) Ask those who are organizing Adoration how you can help to promote it and lend a hand.

Week 68: “All of us, gazing on the Lord’s glory with unveiled faces, are being transformed from glory to glory into His very image.” (2 Cor 3:18) “Communicating with Christ therefore demands that we gaze on him, allow him to gaze on us, listen to him, get to know him.” (Pope Benedict XVI) Spend time reflecting on the Scriptures during Adoration and simply gaze at our Lord – and let Him gaze on you – in the stillness.

Week 69: “Blessed are those who have not seen and yet believe.” (Jn 20:29) “If the Lord gives himself to us, then receiving him can only mean to bow before him, to glorify him, to adore him.” (Pope Benedict XVI) Make acts of faith in reparation to Jesus in the Holy Eucharist for those who struggle with belief.

Week 70: “What is needed is trust.” (Mk 11:23) “The One whom we adore—as I was saying—is not some distant power. He has knelt down before us to wash our feet. And that gives to our adoration the quality of being unforced, adoration in joy and in hope, because we are bowing down to enter into a love that does not make slaves of us but transforms us.” (Pope Benedict XVI) Throughout your day repeat the words “Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, truly present in the Holy Eucharist, I place all my trust in You.”

Week 71: “If My people . . . humble themselves and pray, and seek My presence . . . I will revive their land.” (2 Ch 7:14) “Without adoration, there is no transformation of the world.” (Pope Benedict XVI) Pray for the conversion of our country and a spiritual rebirth in our land.

Week 72: “My delight is to be with you.” (Prov 8:31) “We will turn with the same awe to Christ present in the Tabernacle of mercy, in the Sacrament of the Altar.” (Pope Benedict XVI) Offer the Divine Mercy novena and chaplet before Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, King of Mercy.
